Hello Everyone, not sure who the 55 people that saw my last post are, but thanks for viewing (well, I might know a few)!
So when I've being going through my walk with God I have been writing a journal about it (as I quickly mentioned in the previous post). One of the things I read about on Tuesday, January 22nd was a verse on identity. At "The Well" we called that a "Who Am I?" This one focused on "I am loved." The passage is probably well known to many who read their bible, or perhaps just heard of it somewhere: 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 NIV).
When I wrote, I asked my self what it meant to love/ be loved. I said "To feel accepted by someone or something..." That's how I do feel about God, I feel love and accepted. I also noted that many people get caught up in the wrong meaning/ kind of love. The big thing in this verse is that God loved us so much that he send his son, Jesus to die for our sins. Let that be a reminder for us.
So now let's fast forward to today. I have been going through some of the "Who am I?" things through the past few weeks. Today's was "A joint heir with Christ." The verse was Romans 8:17 "and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him." This is another reminder of how great God's love is. As followers of Christ, we have inherited his eternal kingdom.
As I closed this devotion the song about God's love enduring forever came in my head. The verse it is based behind comes from Psalm 139:1 "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever." Sometimes that's all we have to do, even if we are having a hard time, thank God because of his everlasting love!
Until Next time
